Title: Status coloring
Post by: sangean on 30 October, 2004, 19:28:02
Hi!

What do the different colors mean in the download/upload status bar?

Downloads are green, but sometimes the download bar has for example 60% of it green and some of it is light green. Same with upload, for example I have now an upload bar which has a long red line about 50%, and the a smaller part with lighter red and at the tip of it a very small part of the status bar is even lighter red.

So why does an upload or download bar has different shade of colors? What does it mean?

The dark color represents part of the file you had downloaded before this download started, normal color is what you currently downloaded and light color shows how much (of the currently downloaded data) you spared by using compressed transfer.

Client of the remote user compresses the data at runtime (using BZIP2 algorithm) before sending them to your's. Your client decompresses them back and saves into a file. With mp3 or avi you won't recognize any difference (these are already compressed formats), but e.g. disc images (iso, bin, nri, img...) will be downloaded faster.
